25 Ways to Get a Job: Get A Personal Branding Toolkit
This post is part of the series entitled, “25 ways to get a new, better or different job.” The series is an effort to provide something actionable that anyone (not just Gen Y) can do that may directly or indirectly help you get a job. If you have any suggestions please
e-mail me or leave them in the comments. After all, this series is for you!
The third post in our series of 25 Way to Get a New, Better or Different Job involves developing your own personal branding toolkit. This idea comes from Dan Schawbel, who is not only a trusted career advisor, but also one of the premiere go-to people with respect to personal branding.
Dan is the leading personal branding expert for generation Y, and the author of a brand new book, “Me 2.0: Build a Powerful Brand to Achieve Career Success (Kaplan, April 2009). But this post isn’t about Dan; it’s about you, so make sure you read each of his posts about the tools you need in your personal branding toolkit.

Your personal branding toolkit should include:
1.)Business Cards
2.)Portfolios
3.)Resumes
4.)Cover Letters
Are you equipped with these personal branding tools? Do you have any additional tools that you have found to be extremely helpful in your job search? Please share in the comments section.

Ryan: each of these is a *must have*. Do you know what would be great? Having a website to go with those business cards. Even a LinkedIn profile with some references would help!

@Ricardo – Both of those are certainly going to be posts that stand on their own during the “25 Ways to Get a New, Better or Different Job.” Coming from someone who is very talented at personal branding, I appreciate the suggestions.
And I’m looking forward to your contribution soon

I find my clientele are severely lacking in personal branding knowledge. It’s so important when in a job search race to make yourself stand out!
I will share this blog with them.

@Martin – Thanks for stopping by and contributing. It’s even more important than it has ever been to build your personal brand and stand out, particularly during this economic recession.
Good luck working on your clientele and getting them to embrace personal branding.
