Friday Grab Bag: Zach Galifianakis Edition
I’m leaving for Vegas for a couple of days on Sunday. I’ve never been (though my great grand father was one of the engineers that helped construct the Hoover Dam & parents and grandparents go every year for the National Finals Rodeo). I’ll be working the majority of the time, but I’m looking forward to experiencing it.
I have a lot of friends that go out there and spend inordinate amounts of money in the clubs, lose more than their round trip airfare gambling, etc. — I think I’d much rather go hiking in the Pacific Northwest, snorkeling off the Florida Coast, or exploring New York and trying a variety of restaurants (I know I love the last one!).
I won’t knock it until I’ve tried it, but it makes me wander. Is it all about the show? How’s the experience stack up against others once you’re away from all the bright lights? We can read blogs promising all kinds of things, with the best designs, and the biggest names, but at the end of the day it’s what you walk away with, what you learned that should be the most important. How do you feel once you get home?
Needlessly to say I won’t be acting like Galifianakis’ character in “The Hangover.” Viva Las Vegas!

“A runner is a miser, spending the pennies of his energy with great stinginess, constantly wanting to know how much he has spent and how much longer he will be expected to pay.
