Remember To Be Thankful
Every so often I like to step outside of the internet marketing realm and just make a post that has to do with life in general. Sometimes I feel compelled to speak out and others I just want people to know that I’m not some phony Internet persona but a real person with real passions.
Here’s another post that is about a year old (I hope the links still work):
I’m not big on New Years’ resolutions because I feel like they’re too easy to break, but I made a few that I’m going to try and be loyal to this year. One of them is to remember to be thankful for all ways in which God continues to bless me. It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, and I’ve been guilty of it too much lately, but there are always other things that put things in perspective.
Today I found myself getting overwhelmed about all the things I need to get done before I go back to school, namely my graduate school applications. Instead of stressing out over finishing them, I should remember to be thankful that I even have the opportunity to go that route. I was discussing the notion of “academia” over at MyLot and how I thought a lot of it was crap, and I was quickly put in my place by an woman studying in Shangai, China who told me that there are many International students who would jump at the chance to study at an American University. That put things in perspective for me. You can check out her response here: Academia Discussion.
I went and saw the film We Are Marshall today with my mother and sister and I could sit here and tell you how it didn’t live up to my expectations. I could tell you that I thought it fell short of making the story seem bigger than sports in the way that the VERY powerful Miracle did, but then what good does that do anyone? What we should be talking about are the positive things you can take away from this movie – that (and if you know me you know this is a struggle for me) sometimes there are other triumphs that do not necessarily dictated by the win/loss column. There were some powerful moments in this movie and it should be appreciated for its’ efforts.
Most of us are not in any position to wake up in the morning and feel sorry for ourselves. Oh my gosh, if I don’t make this essay perfect, I’m not going to get into the graduate school of my choice (well at least I have the opportunity to get into a graduate program). Oh man, my shoulder is all messed up I can’t play my senior year of baseball (well at least I met some great friends and won two rings being apart of something that’s way bigger than my shoulder and my pride).
Take a look at some of these stories and humble yourself. Realize how fortunate you are in this life and that God wants you to be happy, he wants you to prosper, he wants to grant you his favor, but you have to stop thinking negatively and make the effort to keep things in perspective and remember to be thankful for all the ways in which you are blessed.
I got this story from my good friend Mariah: Crista’s Story
Here’s one of my favorites from Dick and Rick Hoyt, true inspiration.
Team Hoyt #1
And finally, I’m sure you’ve all seen this one, but WOW is the only way I describe.
I wish our television programs could show a lot more segments like these and lot less of all the violence and awful things going on in our world today. I certainly think it would make people stop and think. These are the stories that inspire us, that put things in perspective. Let’s all remember to be thankful this year!

I don’t have a website. Have just started promoting ebooks and I think I already got kicked off one forum for doing something wrong and then another site sounded like, “noob”‘s what idiots..so I don’t know whether or where to post my link but in my search but I was enjoying the journey when I found this and a couple of your other posts.
Sounds like you believe in doing business but not forgetting the spiritual side of life. I think that’s a healthy philosophy. That and balance and most of all appreciation as you so beautifully pointed out here.
Great job. Hope I can figure out how to do the online thing too. Till then, much success to you,
Suz
